Description
Uwharrie (pronounced you-WAH-ree) uses pressure-treated pine in all of
their products, providing you with several advantages over other
products made of other materials, including other woods. Among these
advantages are:
- Insect and rot resistance
- It can be stained or painted (or left
natural)
- Comes from a renewable resource: plantation grown southern
pine
Uwharrie Chair Company uses heavy, one inch thick premium grade lumber
kiln dried
after it has been treated and latex enamel paints.
About the Wood and Finish
Uwharrie Chair products require
no additional protection from exposure to weather, providing the
ability to distress the finish and give each piece the appearance of a
time-worn antique. As Uwharrie products age naturally, their rustic
character will be enhanced. You should expect to see some additional
paint loss and some surface cracking; exposed wood will eventually turn
dark. But even as nature matures your furniture, the wood and the
product will remain structurally sound for years to come.
Color Options
All furniture pieces can be left natural or painted a color. Color
options include two different styles: painted and washed. Painted
pieces will have several coats of paint applied, and then the piece
will be lightly distressed by hand, giving it a unique, weathered look.
Washed pieces will have a single coat of paint applied, and then be
distressed by hand. This gives the piece a antique look, and no two
pieces will look exactly the same.
